These are 5 simple and easy bedroom wall design ideas that transform your space. Let’s make your bedroom feel like your personal safe haven where you can unwind, dream, and feel good.
This post is all about bedroom wall design ideas. Let’s get right into it!
1. Making a gallery wall for your bedroom
Making a gallery wall for your bedroom is a great way to add an eclectic cool factor to your room, and I promise it’s easier than it sounds. The appeal of a gallery wall is that it’s pretty easy to do if you follow a bit of a formula, adding your own flare along the way.
The formula is meant to help with the annoying logistics, like figuring out what frames to use and what layout to use when hanging up your art. If you want a formula to follow, I have a post with templates coming out soon! So stay tuned for that. I’ll link them here as soon as they’re out. You can sign up for the email list to be sure you don’t miss them, if you want to.
A gallery wall adds so much to a space. It shows what art you’re interested in, what you care about, and a little bit of who you are. And it’s such a beautiful way to add to your bedroom. It also can be made into a really affordable project if you buy inexpensive art from a place like Etsy (I recommend trying out digital downloadable art prints if you haven’t before โ they’re super inexpensive!).
You can definitely find affordable frames, too. I wrote a blog post about an assortment of the best wall art picture frames and another one with the best black gallery wall frames if you’re interested in either of those lists!
2. Hanging art above your bed
One of the most classic things that you can do in your bedroom to bring life to your walls is hang up art above your bed. And you can easily make this classic look have a contemporary feel. I think both of these pins show that really well. Also, the pin above totally counts as a gallery wall, too! Even though there are only four frames total above the bed, it has a gallery wall feel because they’re different sizes and they’re all put together to create a cohesive feel between them.
It’s simple, so easy, and so effective visually to hang up art above your bed. You can play with scale here too and go really large, or even a little bit smaller. I love how on the nightstand in the pin above, there’s a little artwork leaning against the wall, too. More art is always a good idea.
3. Creating a vignette on one of your bedroom walls
Ok, but what’s a vignette? A vignette is creating what I like to call a “moment” โ it’s basically a small curated and styled area that has objects that are all meant to go together. If it seems like almost anything could count as a vignette, you’re totally right! I like to think of it as an opportunity to create little styled moments in unexpected places.
The pin above is a beautiful examples because the painting, the wall sconce, and the side table all kind of feel like they’re meant to be together. And that’s a vignette! They’re not that difficult to create, and having a few pretty vignettes around your bedroom will make your space feel extra special. Wall art is a great starting point for a vignette.
You can do a little vignette moment above your nightstand with a funky lamp, a book or trinket dish on your nightstand, and a print hung right above. This is a great moment to remind you that you don’t want to hang your wall art super high up. Hanging it a few inches above the top of your lamp, headboard, dresser, or whatever is closest to it, is a great way to make everything feel cohesive in your room.
4. Putting up wallpaper on your bedroom walls
If you’re intimidated by wallpaper, hi ๐ join the club! Wallpaper can be intimidating for a few different reasons. Number one, it seems like it could be really overwhelming in a space and it’s worrisome that you might get tired of it after a while. Number two, if you’re like me and know you would probably end up trying to install it yourself, it’s nerve wracking because you don’t want to do a bad job.
Getting past those two things has not been easy for me, and I bought wallpaper for my bathroom 5 months ago that I still haven’t put up yet because I’m scared that I’ll mess it up. So you are not alone! However, I have completely fallen in love with how wallpaper can transform a space, and I think it can make your bedroom look amazing and feel so different in the best way. Thanks to Pinterest for helping me get to this point ๐ .
Wallpaper doesn’t have to be super loud and in your face either โ you can definitely find more subtle patterns if that’s more your style. I love looking at Anthropologie for inspiration, and Jungalow has really pretty wallpapers as well. There’s definitely a wallpaper out there for everyone, and it can be super fun to browse the different options. You might even be surprised by what you like! I ended up liking much brighter and bolder patterns than I expected.
5. Placing a mirror and a few cute wall hooks on a wall
A super simple thing that you can do is hang up a wall mirror, big or small, and create a little vignette out of it. I always recommend trying to hang up art before this, because wall art and personal photos add so much warmth to a space, but if you’ve exhausted those options and need a little something extra, a mirror is a great option.
And that’s it! Those are the 5 ways that you can redesign your bedroom walls ๐
Changing your bedroom may not seem like a big deal, but it is! It’s an investment in yourself and your home environment. Making your home feel like it reflects who you are right now and your currents likes and dislikes is not an easy thing to do. Especially if you’re anything like me, because I feel like my likes and dislikes are changing all the time.
My hope is that these bedroom ideas help you think about your approach to designing your bedroom in a new way that inspires you to take a leap of faith and try something new.
