If you love banana bread as much as I do, you have to try this banana bread recipe. You can make it gluten free or with normal flour โ I always do gluten free because I have a gluten intolerance. If you want to skip to the recipe, scroll down to the banana emojis and it’s right there.
Once you try this recipe, you’ll never want to make another banana bread. It’s the best gluten free banana bread EVER. This recipe also makes the best normal banana bread out there if you want to make it with regular flour instead. It’s simply THE BEST.

This is the best gluten free banana bread, hands down. It’s a gluten free version of a recipe called “Paige’s Banana Bread” that my grandma shared with me. I think she might have found it in the Boston Globe. I’m not totally sure, but I know it’s too good not to share with you. Just know that I can’t take credit for the recipe because I didn’t come up with it myself. It’s just my favorite one to bake.
This gluten free banana bread recipe can make a loaf or muffins (you can even make it in a brownie pan which I love to do as well), and it is THE BEST BANANA BREAD I HAVE EVER TASTED. And thatโs saying a lot because I LOVEEEEE banana bread. I have tried many different slices of banana bread in my life, and none quite compare to this. It’s completely classic banana bread in the best way.
This is the mouth watering, delicious gluten free banana bread recipe that we’ve all been waiting for.

The best banana bread recipe:
ingredients:
- 3 or 4 overripe bananasย
- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 stick of butter melted & slightly cooled
- 2 large eggs at room temp
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (I always put a little extra)
- 1 1/2 cup flour (I use gluten free flour, cup 4 cup or the King Arthur GF Flour)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- the recipe suggests walnuts or chocolate chips, which are optional add ins if you like that! I never do the nuts but sometimes I add chocolate chips. It’s good with or without.
instructions for banana bread:
- preheat oven to 350ยบ
- Butter loaf pan (in this case I did muffins instead, and I use silicon muffin liners which I LOVE)
- beat the bananas and sugar together
- add in the butter, eggs, and vanilla and beat together well
- add in the dry ingredients and mix to combine
- pour into prepared pan
- loaf bakes for 50 min to 1 hour, brownie pan bakes for about 30 min, muffins bake for about 22 min
Banana bread for different occasions
I think it’s always a good time for banana bread. It keeps well overnight, so it’s easy to bake the night before and have the next day. I’ve done that before for holidays like Mother’s Day or even Christmas. Baking at night is a ~vibe~ and then you have part of your breakfast or brunch ready to go for the next day. Everybody likes the celebrate with banana bread.
For me, banana bread is the ultimate comfort food. Something about that warm banana flavor makes everything feel like it’s going to be alright. I love baking it on nights where I’m not sure what I want for dessert and I want to do something with my hands. Baking is so therapeutic in that way, because it keeps you present.
Banana bread makes for a great gift
If you’re not sure what to give somebody as a housewarming gift, anniversary gift, or birthday gift, everybody loves banana bread. Getting a homemade baked loaf of banana bread or dozen of banana bread is one of the easiest ways to make someone happy.
I’ve also sent this banana bread wrapped up in tinfoil and plastic wrap inside of a cardboard box, so you can mail this baby far and wide if you want to send it as a gift!
You’ll never buy “too many” bananas again
I make this recipe literally every time I have overripe bananas. They’re the best to use because they bake so well and are full of flavor. Sometimes I even buy more bananas than we need so that I can make banana bread. It’s my favorite.
Another reason that I love baking this recipe is because it’s very easy. It’s a simple and straightforward recipe that’s pretty hard to get “wrong.” I’ve made it completely out of order before and it still tasted great. I’ve eyeballed every single measurement and it has still tasted great, which is kind of amazing.
Once you make this banana bread, everyone is going to ask you to make it again
Everyone in my family loves this banana bread recipe. It’s such an easy crowd pleaser that people ask for again and again. Whenever I bake this banana bread, it fills the house with the most delicious and heartwarming smell. It might be one of my favorite smells of all time. It’s so warm and comforting.
I hope that this banana bread recipe becomes a staple for you in your home the way that it is in mine. And if you needed a reason to make banana bread today, consider this your reason.
