Have you ever wondered what the best summer wines are? So have I. And I was thinking it would be so fun to try to find some of them and share with you, so here we go!
I wanted to find summery wines that are light, bright, and refreshing for the summertime. To kick off the search, I went to the liquor store and got four wines to taste test with my brother, Will. We tried them in a YouTube video that you can watch on my Garland Collections YouTube channel.
This list of summer wines includes the wines we tried on my search for the best summer wines. I tried to get a healthy combination of white wine, rosรฉ, and red wine. Red wine isn’t usually my thing, but I tried a sparkling red wine and ended up loving it. But more on that later.
This is a list of the best summer wines. It’s a work in progress, because the search to find the best summer wines is too much fun to settle so easily. I guess we’ll have to keep trying different wines. But who could complain about that?
This post is about the best summer wines. Sit back, relax and enjoy! And try one of these next time you’re looking for a summery bottle of wine.
Honestly, I haven’t totally acquired the taste for wine. It’s something I’m working on, because I love the sound of a good glass of wine, I just don’t always love the taste. But when it comes to anything, summer is my favorite season. And summer wines know how to pull off being refreshing, sweet, and tasty.
I’m no sommelier, but I think that these wines are delicious and the perfect flavors for summer. With each wine, I’ll share a link where you can shop for it online, and I’ll tell you my review of it. All of these wines are under $20, so they’re pretty affordable.
I was pleasantly surprised with my selection, aside from the rosรฉ. I’ve definitely had other rosรฉ that I’ve enjoyed more than this one. But you need to try this Sauvignon Blanc and the Lambrusco. Okay, I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s get started.

The wines I taste tested
1. Wildsong Sauvignon Blanc
Buy on Drizly
Description: This Sauvignon Blanc is from Hawke’s Bay in New Zealand, 2020. It light with a dry finish. This wine has notes of passionfruit, guava, and lime.
My review: This is one of my favorite wines that I’ve ever tried. I loved how dry it was. It wasn’t too sweet, and the fruity flavors in it were so delicious. It felt like a high quality wine, especially given the price.
My favorite thing about this wine was how drinkable it was. I felt like it was so easy to sip on and enjoy. It wasn’t too bitter or sour, which is something I often associate with wine (which makes it a lot less drinkable to me). This wasn’t too sweet or too sour, it was just right. And since it was so dry, it didn’t feel like it was going to give me a headache.
Also, I can’t help but say that I loved the label for this wine. It was so pretty, and with the bright yellow cap I thought it had a really cute aesthetic going on. When it comes to wine bottles, looks matter!
Rating out of 10: I would give this a 9/10! It was so good, and I would definitely buy it again.
2. Lambrusco Di Modena Biologico
Buy on Drizly
Description: This dry sparkling red wine has soft bubbles that melt in your mouth. It’s a striking dark berry purple color and has a silky smooth finish on your palette.
My review: This wine feels special. I had never had a sparkling red wine before, and this one was such a beautiful dark, opaque purple color. The bubbles were gentle and airy, and they gave the wine a lightness, making it perfect for summer.
Not to mention, since this was sparkling, it popped open like a champagne bottle! That was so much fun. I love a good pop. And it made me feel so fancy. It’s also an organic wine, which was so fun to try, because they’ve become so popular recently.
This wine came in a beautiful bottle, popping it open felt like a reason to celebrate in itself, and it was so unique and delightful to drink. I think that this wine makes an ordinary evening feel like a special one.
Rating out of 10: This gets a 9/10, maybe even a 9.5 โ this feels like a really special bottle of wine. I couldn’t believe how affordable it was, because it tasted so expensive to both my brother and me.
3. Coppola Diamond Collection Rosรฉ of Pinot Noir
Buy on Drizly
Description: This classic rosรฉ wine is a signature from the Francis Coppola Diamond Collection. It’s a little bit fruity and a little bit floral.
My review: Honestly, it’s a little difficult to describe this rosรฉ because it truly is a classic rosรฉ. But the more that I think about it, I expect a rosรฉ to be a lot lighter than this one was. I definitely think that this a versatile rosรฉ, but it was not my favorite. It wasn’t very flavorful. It almost tasted a little boring to me.
Okay, I was trying to be nice before, but I think this is one of my least favorite rosรฉs that I’ve had. I prefer a sweeter, brighter rosรฉ. So if you like the opposite of that, you might like this. But it wasn’t for me. I still thought it was relatively drinkable as far as wine goes, so it wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t as good as I would have expected.
Rating out of 10: 5/10, this was not my favorite! Not terrible but nothing special, which earns it the neutral rating of 5 out of 10. I think you could find a better rosรฉ than this.
4. Carlo Rossi Moscato Sangria
Buy on Drizly
Description: This moscato sangria is just as sweet as it sounds (if not sweeter)! It has a very low alcohol content and is a scrumptiously sweet beverage. It was $3.99, so it was super inexpensive.
My review: If you like sweet, you’ll like this. I thought it was fun to try something so inexpensive, and this was totally something I would drink in college. Even now, I think it would be a fun wine to use to create pitcher of sangria with other mix ins.
This wine would be great for using to create a mixed drink, sangria, or punch. It’s so sweet on its own you could mistake it for grape juice. But I think it would be a great thing to mix in when you need some extra sweetness. And let’s face it, I love a sweet wine, so this was still yummy to me.
As far as cheap wine goes, I think that this was tasty. It was better than some pricier wine I’ve tried! I don’t think everyone would agree with that, but I’d always rather drink something sweet than something super bitter.
Rating out of 10: 6/10 โ this wine tastes like grape juice, and it’s barely even wine! I think it had a 6% alcohol content. That being said, it was really tasty if you have a sweet tooth like me. Plus, it’s ridiculously affordable.
Searching for the best summer wines was a lot of fun. I loved trying these wines back to back, because it helped me get a sense of what I enjoy in a glass of wine. And it made me feel like my backyard patio was part of a fancy vineyard! I thought it was a lot of fun.
I hope that this helped you find a summer bottle of wine that you want to try.
