Ever since everything went remote, having a home office that’s a space that you enjoy being in on a day to day has become so important. I work from home every single day, so I think it’s safe to say that I am an expert in spending a lot of time in my home office ๐คฃ.
There are certain things that I’ve learned about making your space inviting, inspirational, and cozy. These things are all so fundamental so that you can do your best work and feel good at the end of the day.
We’re going to talk about home office wall art ideas. My goal with this post is to give you the inspiration you need to make your home office a space that you love being in.
Your home office is a place that needs to inspire you to be creative and make you feel put together so that you can focus on what’s important to you.
This post is all about home office wall art ideas. Let’s get into it!
These 9 ideas will inspire you to put art up on your home office walls that you love.
1. Elegant & timeless
This home office design is elegant and timeless with the high contrast and simple, clean lines it has. The dark walls provide a stunning backdrop for the feminine chair and rug that complement the more masculine desk and wall color. I love the harmony that contrast strikes in the room.
The artwork for this home office is a pretty photograph, but I think that the main takeaway from it is how large the frame is and the way it is leaned up against the wall. Using a frame almost the same width as the desk helps make this space look complete and full. Leaning a large frame that’s sitting on your desk against the wall like this is a great way to give your space a well designed look.
Tip: not all wall art for your home office has to be hung up. Leaning it against the wall, whether it is resting on your desk or on a shelf, can create a well designed, elevated look.
2. Fun, colorful, & modern
This playful design is still mature and elegant because of the clean lines and the careful planning that went into the arrangement of this gallery wall. I love how this sparks office gallery wall ideas, because it’s a great space to get creative with your wall art. That creativity will be reflected back at you whenever you’re working, which obviously is to be desired!
The key to success with home office wall decor like this is mapping out your plan before you start hammering nails into the wall. Think about what sizes of art you have, what frames you need, and sketch out your idea on paper beforehand. You can even cut out paper that’s the size of your frames and temporarily tape those up on the wall to get a feel for your idea.
If you’re looking for frames to use, I have a whole post on the best frames from Amazon that includes gallery wall sets, which can help make this process a little bit easier.
Tip: Figuring out a color palette for your home office wall art and decor will help you sort through all of the options out there and pick things that work well together.
3. Neutral & bohemian
The mix of warm and neutral tones in this space is so dreamy. This home office wall art is super simple and easy to recreate as well โ it’s just a mix of three different pieces of art, with each one in a unique sized frame. The photo all the way on the left has no matte, and the other two both have white mattes. If I were recreating this idea, I would probably use a matte in each frame because I like that look just a little bit better.
If there’s one thing you can learn from this inspiration photo, it’s that hanging up wall art in your home office doesn’t have to be hard. There is absolutely nothing wrong with keeping it simple.
Tip: mix and match different sizes of frames to give your home office an eclectic and artful feel.
4. Eclectic & interesting
There is a lot of mixing of styles going on in this photo, and that’s what makes it so interesting to look at. The desk looks old and vintage, the chair is a cane chair that’s tan and black which is kind of a mid-century look, and the art is very modern. Mixing styles is a sure way to create so much visual interest in any space, and this is a great example of how to do that in your home office.
Having a large painting like this goes to show that once again, going for a larger size of artwork often looks really good. So don’t be afraid to go big! Also, a painting on canvas that is also framed generally looks very elevated and frankly, expensive. It’s a beautiful look.
Tip: Adding a light fixture above a painting makes it look elegant, almost like you’re in a museum.
5. Warm & traditional
This is a beautiful example of how you can create a gallery wall with a lot of smaller frames and wall art. Not everything in these frames even need to be classified as “wall art.” You could use a postcard that you got on vacation at a modern museum and frame it โ that’s the beauty of using small frames. You might have some material already that you don’t have to buy.
There are a few reasons why this gallery wall is so beautiful. Firstly, all of the colors go together. The frames are black, brown, tan, light grey, or a metallic. Each one goes with the rest. Also, there are a variety of sizes of frames, but not too much variety. You can simplify this into small, medium, and large. Their small frames are all about the same size, their medium frames are all about the same size, and so on. It creates some organization which helps a lot.
The spacing between the frames is also crucial โ they’re given enough space to create an open feeling, but close enough together to clearly indicate that they all belong together as a unit. You can easily achieve the same look โ don’t place your frames closer than 1.5 inches together, and don’t let them get further than 3-4 inches apart.
Lastly, the overall shape that the frames create together is beautiful and it is not cookie cutter. It’s not a circle, it’s not a square. It is an organic shape that looks natural to the eye. It takes planning to achieve this! I like to think of it as organized chaos, or curated mess.
Tip: keep your art out of your working zone so that it doesn’t get in your way or create distractions. this way it can look beautiful without being moved around.
6. Coastal & inviting
There’s something so nice about this home office, because it is inviting and clean. Having a color on your cabinets and walls can help bring a space to life, like how this blue does. The mix of art leaning against the wall and hanging up in a pair to the right of the computer create an environment that is easy to work in and is interesting to look at.
Especially if you are facing a wall at your desk rather than looking out a window, it’s really important to create a view for yourself that helps keep you engaged and interested. It’s easy to lose focus on what you’re doing if you’re staring at a blank wall every day, because you’re bored.
Tip: use warm and cool tones in your space to create contrast. it will bring your space to life and make it feel more inviting.
7. Simple & lovely
Sometimes the best answer is a pin board. If you aren’t sure what wall art for your home office walls you like the best, a pin board is a great solution. It acts as wall space that can change over time. You can use it to help you stay organized with your work and to do list, and you can also put up photos that you love from Pinterest, or pin a family photo up.
Lately, leaning pin boards have been really popular. The one in this picture is a great example because it’s made of a light gray fabric and is a large size. Most importantly, it’s leaning up against the wall rather than being hung up. Either one can look really beautiful, it’s really a matter of what works best for you and your space.
Tip: You can buy a pin board online! you Also can make one yourself. Simply buy a piece of plywood or cork board and wrap it in fabric, stapling the fabric to the back side. Either way you do it, it is a really affordable option for home office wall art.
8. Cozy & artful
It’s the beautiful shelving! The pin boards. The art leaning against the walls. Wow โ this space is really inspiring to me. That mixture of elements creates so much interest without being overwhelming. It really gives it this natural look, as if somehow everything just fell into place here. (We both know this probably took hours to dream up and execute, though.) It’s kind of funny how that works.
Tip: Mix in pin boards and wall art to create layers of visual interest. you can also mix hanging things on the wall and leaning them against the wall!
9. Bright mixture of modern & classic
This is another example of a pin board! It has a frame around it and it fills up the little piece of wall beautifully. I love the light fixture above it, too. You can have a lot of fun with your wall art for home office when you use a pin board. It’s fun to find images that bring you joy and inspiration and pin them up so that you can look at them all of the time.
Using a pin board in your home office can be an opportunity to be creative with your home office wall art ideas.
Tip: don’t be afraid to fill up your wall space. Having large wall art in your home office can help make your space feel bigger.
