Looking for some inspiration and design help with styling your coffee table? I got you! Let’s walk through 5 elegant and easy round coffee table decor ideas so that you can feel confident when you go to decorate your coffee table. Because it feels good when you feel like you got it right.
These 5 round coffee table decor ideas are meant to help you so that you have all of the inspiration you need to put together a beautifully designed centerpiece on your coffee table.
One of my design philosophies is that when you are decorating your own space, the most important thing to keep in mind is how certain decor pieces, arrangements, colors, etc (you get the point) are beautiful to you. You are your harshest critic, because whatever anyone else says doesn’t really matter. It’s your home!
That being said, sometimes it’s hard to figure out exactly what your personal style is and how to do something seemingly simple (turns out it’s not that simple after all), like putting together something that resembles a beautiful coffee table in your eyes. That’s why I’m here! These ideas will help you discern what you like and don’t like so that you can find a little bit of joy every time you look at your coffee table.
This post is all about round coffee table decor ideas. Let’s get straight into it!
1. Elegant, fun, and quirky!
OH YES I DID!!! I am not kidding with this one, not kidding at all. Hear me out โ leaving a coffee table book open on your coffee table is one of the biggest flexes available to you with coffee table decor.
I made a point of choosing a page that didn’t have any writing on it. Lucky for me Black Food by Bryant Terry was a perfect candidate for this kind of thing because it has pages with beautiful art on them, like this one.
Tip: leave a book open to a beautiful image. yes, that’s allowed! It’s a great way to add beauty without having to own every decor item from target and crate & barrel.
P.S. โ if you’re looking for cute coffee table books that will allow you to make this complete power move, this blog post is for you! It has a list of 21 cute coffee table books.ย I’m going through a phase right now where I am obsessed with coffee table books, so I took it upon myself to do some research and share some really cute ones with you. Hope you like ๐ actually, hope you LOVE!
2. Bright colors and easy layers
Books, bowls, a potted plant, and some colorful glass. That’s all you need for this super bright and fun look (at least humor me here, I think it’s pretty bright and fun).
I like how there are big and little details in this arrangement โ the flowers act as a big detail. You can look at the little petals but overall it’s a pretty large plant. The little stone eggs in the bowl are resting in tissue and look like a cute nest. They’re a small detail that draws your eye in and helps to break up some of the larger shapes that could be over imposing otherwise.
Tip: include one color in multiple different shades to create visual interest as well as consistency with color.
There’s a lot of green in this. Whether green is your favorite color or not, you can create a really beautiful effect by adding in multiple shades of the same color. You can do this with a neutral too, I just happen to be obsessed with color.
Also, this doesn’t look “perfect” and that’s the point, okay?! Let me stop yelling. What I mean is, overly curated coffee table decor screams one thing in my opinion: BORING. Making it a little bit more eclectic adds personality and character to the room.
3. Natural yet traditional
There’s nothing a pinecone can’t fix. Actually, come to think of it, there are like a million things a pinecone couldn’t fix. But let’s ignore those things โ this natural look is a winner because it’s so easy to put together!
Sometimes when I have an empty bowl on top of a book I’m like why does that look so weird to me? And then I put something like a pinecone in it, for example, and every problem I had and the frustration that was starting to bubble up inside goes away. IT’S CALLED PINECONE MAGIC, DUH.
But seriously, adding in something to fill an empty bowl, or placing a little something on top of a stack of coasters โ these are the little ways to create a visual vignette with your coffee table styling.
Tip: Build as few or as many layers as you want with your coffee table decor. There is nothing wrong with a bare coffee table, so adding decor to it is meant to be a fun opportunity for personal expression.
This simple centerpiece is here to serve as a reminder that your coffee table could be empty if you felt like leaving it that way, and any additional decor is for you to enjoy. So f*** the haters and do what you like!
4. Layered trays
If you want to get fancy with it, add an oversized square tray to your coffee table. A large square tray fits beautifully inside the realms of the edges of a circular coffee table, and it looks good doing it. Gotta love that.
Before you accuse me of going crazy with the trays, I think it can really work! If they’re made out of different, contrasting materials, it can look really pretty. Placing a beautiful coffee table book (this is another plug to check out this post of beaauutiful coffee table books that are so cute) and another little tray on top of it was my strategy here. Use at your own risk.
Tip: use a square tray on a circular table to create layers of contrast and visual interest.
P.S. (again) … (am I overusing this??) ANYWAY, I just wanted to tell you that having coasters on your coffee table might seem obvious to some, but it wasn’t obvious to me. So this is your reminder that it’s nice to have coasters so you aren’t stranded coasterless with a drink in your hand when you sit down to relax. Ok, that’s enough of that. Onto the next one!
5. Fresh and simplistic
It’s kind of amazing how much fresh flowers can add to a space. Not saying you need to have them at all times, because that’s a lot to keep up with, but treating yourself to flowers more often is a great way to add a beautiful touch to your coffee table decor.
Also, one of the keys to having great coffee table to decor is to have at least one completely useless item. Ok, listen, the useless item isn’t actually useless because it’s pretty (I’m looking at you little bowl of fake bird eggs) but the point is, it’s not like you’re going to move those around because you just can’t stop playing catch with them.
They sit in the bowl and stay there, and that adds to the ease of this whole decor thing, because you don’t have to worry about putting things back or messing things with your day to day living.
Tip: switch it up when you feel like it. You can see if you prefer a simpler look like this one, or if you like to create lots of layers with your favorite coffee table decor.
This post was all about round coffee table decor ideas. I hope that it inspired you, entertained you, provided a useful tip, or helped you. Or even just left you feeling good. Figuring out how you want to style your home can be intimidating, and my goal is always to help make it less so. And maybe even help you enjoy the process and make it fun for yourself! That’s the best.
Like anything in your home, go with your gut and make sure that your coffee table looks good to you. Pay attention to how it makes you feel โ pay the most attention to what makes you feel good in your home. Use your coffee table as an opportunity to create more of that joy and goodness in your home.
